Cynthia McCallister (1977)
Born to Cynthia McCallister on October 18, 2006, a son, Wilkinson Rhodes, 8 1/2 lbs. Finally found the love of my life even though he wears a diaper and babbles a lot. Thought it worthy of mention as there might be another Harvard woman perusing these notes wondering whether it's too late for motherhood. Fifty is not too late, in fact, I think pregnancy at this age brings one, unbelievably, to the fountain of youth. There's just no time to think about being middle aged. I'll bet I'm no more tired than a 25 year old and I'm probably far more grateful for my healthy, chubby little boy. I hope this can be an inspiration to someone like me who never gave up the longing to have a child. Just one thing I would advise...I found that dying one's hair turned the comments from strangers from 'oh what an adorable grandchild' to 'how old is your baby?'
William Farley (1977) William Farley (1977, COL) writes, "This is my first alumni note and is inspired by my daughter's acceptance into the Class of 2010. I have visited the campus more times in the last few months than I had during the prior 25 years. My wife, June Besek (Yale '76), is resigned to living in a decidedly Harvard household. My son Chris (Harvard Class of 2015?) has wholeheartedly joined the Harvard supporters at home." Submitted on May 8 2006
Maria Kacandes-Kamil (1977) Maria (Kacandes) Kacandes-Kamil (1977, COL) writes, "Apart from a two year stint in sales when I was on the road 4 days a week, I've mostly been in London since 1989. The number of family visitors increased dramatically after Elynor was born 14 years ago and notched upward again when Francesca came 9 years ago. I was especially pleased to join Bonny Landers (77) for her wedding in October 2005. In April, I had a good visit with Alison Adams Ferrante and her husband Giaff who was kind enough to join my husband Steven Kamil (Colgate/Carnegie Mellon) for a Chelsea football game. We would welcome any class members passing through and can give expert tourist advice. I'm planning to be in Boston in May/June again and will try to look up some of you who are based there." Submitted on Apr 26 2006
Mark Le Doux (1977) Mark Le Doux (1977, Harvard College) writes, "My spouse, Bill Albinger, is serving as supply priest at Holy Innocents' Church in Lahaina, HI through April 2006. Classmates passing through the islands are welcome to call on us." Submitted on Nov 16 2005
Barbara Jaffe (1977) I received a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2005. It only took me 10 years. Also, my son Bernie is a freshman at Vassar this year. What a gorgeous campus! Submitted on Oct 14 2005
